this is Todd Graff directing the crowd (in which I and my friend Kenny from Broadway By the Bay's Music Theatre Summer Conservatory are extras!) for this fun and beautiful segment of the movie.
about a week before we shot this sequence, Juan Lopez and Andy Rector (trumpetist and trombonist in the movie) played a show in this club with their real-life band Driver F.

Thank you for playing Ravel's Bolero today. I blasted it in my car and my friend and I skankboogied for the entire duration of the piece. I can only dream what the drivers around us thought we were listening to. But to the ones with rolled down windows, I'm pretty sure they enjoyed it too. So fun.
